Xavi's Playlists
Since I started creating playlists almost 10 years ago, I’ve been carefully taking care of them. No matter when they were created, each of my playlists holds a special place in my Spotify—and in my heart.
Now, I’d love to share how I curate and organize my playlists, along with some of the stories behind them.
How Do I Curate My Playlists?
My way of curating my playlists has been evolving, and it still evolves based on my personal and musical needs.
It is a habit I have integrated in my everyday life as a creative and personal process.
There are 3 key elements I focus on when creating a new playlist

Context of Creation
My safe space
While adding songs to my existing playlists happens spontaneously in different contexts, creating a new playlist is something I like to do at home.
I like to approach the moment of creating a new playlist as if it were a journaling session—at a comforting space, slowly, and reflecting on the purpose of the playlist, the title, description...
Personalisation
Aesthetically relatable
Once I have a clear intention for the playlist, I search for a thumbnail that conveys the mood or meaning of the playlist.
While some people prefer using pictures from their personal galleries, I always look for thumbnails on Pinterest. I have a specific aesthetic for my playlists that, beyond being aesthetically pleasing, feels representative of me.
Song Selection
Using my library and...
I choose songs for my playlists based on lyrics that align with the playlist's intention and that have a similar mood or vibe.
I use songs from my own music library, while also exploring Spotify recommendations, features such as smart shuffle or song radios, and other users’ playlists for inspiration.

Personal Playlists
It's likely that my sad playlist with songs that make me cry my (queer) teenage years playlist my falling-in-love playlist only makes sense to me
I believe that playlists are deeply personal and they resonate with the one who created them and gave meaning to each song in that playlist, since we all have different experiences embedded in music.
