Discover New Artists Through Their Playlists
Welcome to “The Artist’s Playlist Journal”, a content series where emerging artists use playlist curation as a form of journaling.
This is how it works: the artists curate a playlist of 10 songs by other artists that inspire them, and answer a small journal with reflection questions about the moods and emotions inspiring their music, their artistic journey, and identity.

Meet Emirhan
Kicking off the series is emirhan, an 18-year-old Turkish bedroom artist quietly building his dream pop sound. His music lives in a dreamy, melancholic space somewhere between Steve Lacy, Clairo, Beabadoobee, and Mac DeMarco.
He just released his second EP, Outgrowing Older — a 4-track synth-pop dream project with songs like “The Wrong Side” and “Foreign Car” that invite you to step into and linger in emirhan’s melancholic universe.
Behind The Playlist
How does this playlist reflect who you are as an artist?
My lyrics and the way I express myself are similar to these artists. The melancholic vibe in these songs matches how I feel and what I make.
What mood or emotion did you want to capture?
My music is personal — it’s the emotions I feel, my story, in every song and lyric.
How do these songs connect to your current project?
While making ‘Care,’ I was listening a lot to The Marías — they inspired the new EP a lot. Clairo and Steve Lacy have also always influenced me, so my music has this chill, melancholic feel like theirs.

emirhan's Journaling Session
If this playlist was a journal entry, what would you call it?
Music of my soul.
What did you discover about yourself or your music while curating this playlist?
It’s hard to pinpoint similarity with any one artist when it comes to my music.
What was your first instinct when starting this playlist — a feeling, a sound, a memory?
I was just happy to get the chance to share my music 🙂

Xavi's Listening Notes
Besides connecting with emirhan’s drive to follow his dream (do we ever stop trying that?), and being a sucker for melancholic songs, there’s something really tender yet raw about the way he turns emotion into sound. It feels like reading someone’s digital diary with headphones on.
There’s still room for (out)growth — but that’s part of what makes his project exciting. It’s worth acknowledging that he’s self-producing everything, in his bedroom — quietly, but intentionally.
I’m curious where his sound will go next. The foundation is there — a defined aesthetic, a clear emotional world. I’m excited to see how he keeps exploring and expressing it.
My spotlight: Obvious With You (ft. proderics).
